Jaswant Singh I

Maharaja Jaswant Singh I of Bharatpur (1851–1893) ruled the princely state from 1853 until his death, ascending the throne at age two following his father Maharaja Balwant Singh\\\'s death. His reign marked a period of alignment with British interests and internal reforms.Accession & Regency: Became ruler in March 1853 under a Council of Regency led by Dhau Gyuii Ram until 1871. Assumed full governing powers on 7 March 1871 after demonstrating administrative competence. 1857 Revolt: Actively supported the British during the Indian Rebellion, earning significant colonial recognitionEstablished modern infrastructure, including railways and a cavalry-infantry regiment. Funded Mayo College in Ajmer for princely education.Built the Brajendra Bihari Temple at Sewar and regularly visited pilgrimage sites like Nathdwara and Pushkar. Maintained strict adherence to religious customs and family traditions.
