Maharaja Dungar Singh, also known as HH Sri Raj-Rajeshwar Maharajadhiraj Narendra Shiromani Maharaja Sir Dungar Singh, was the Rathore Rajput ruler of the Princely State of Bikaner from 1872 to 1887. Born on August 22, 1854, he succeeded his childless predecessor Maharaja Sardar Singh upon his death in 1872. Dungar Singh was an enlightened and progressive monarch, known for his contributions to education by opening the first public schools and a college in Bikaner. He also modernized the state's infrastructure by establishing a modern police force, introducing a budget and fiscal standards, opening dispensaries, appointing a civil surgeon, and reforming the jails. Additionally, he supported the British during the Second Afghan War by supplying 800 camels. Dungar Singh died on August 19, 1887, and was succeeded by his adopted brother, Ganga Singh. Images of Maharaja Dungar Singh might be found in local historical archives or museums, but a notable statue in his honor exists in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
